Sunday, February 24, 2002 - 1:10 PM PST
Got word that the dollar boys and the monkey clan will be pushing their match tonight back one hour to 10:00 PM EST. Coverage will change accordingly.
Also, here are a few helpful commands when the unruly start to join up and chat about nonsense:
- gtv_silent - Turns off chat beeps from other GTV users chat, but still displays the text.
- gtv_nospeech - Turns off chat from other GTV users completely to ignore the fogarts.
Hope to see you there tonight!
How to connect
Planet iCE's primary GTV server is at gtv1.planetice.net, incase that one starts to get full the secondary is at gtv2.planetice.net. To connect simply start Quake III, and connect to this address (Easiest way is to type '/connect gtv1.planetice.net' in the console). When you first connect you'll be placed in the waiting room. Available broadcasts will be listed on the screen. Type '/gtv_watch #' in the console, where # is the match you want to watch. You'll load up WFA, and be able to see through the eyes of the camera.
You can talk to other people watching GTV, and the people on the server will not hear you. You will only be able to chat with those connected to the same server you are. By default, chat from others in GTV will be yellow colored. More information on commands can be found by typing '/gtv_help' in the console, or at the GTV website.
What you should know about GTV
- The broadcast is delayed atleast 10 seconds from the real action.
- There is nothing you need to download to be able to watch. (Except WFA 3.3)
- You will only be able to watch from the view of the camera. Because of known behavior while not using chasecam, we'll only be spectating players and not roam about the map. We try to switch it up during the match, and will respond to all requests to change views. Usually we use cg_thirdperson to get a better view.
- If you're getting jerky movement, using 'cl_timenudge 100' in the console will help. You'll probably want to change it back to 0 afterwards.
We need help broadcasting!
Because of the overwhelming response Planet iCE GTV has recieved, we need more servers. They take very little processor time, and require less bandwidth per client than a regular WFA server. If you have the resources, T1 or better, get in contact with us, please!
We want to broadcast your match!
Have an upcoming WFA match you want to share with the world? We'd like to help out. Fire off an email with your request. Be sure to include your opponent, time of the match, and where to meet up to get server information.
